We found that at the age of 16, our students had nowhere to go locally after leaving Urban Edge due to their age and this gave our students something more to aspire to. As always, Urban Edge’s goal is to ensure students will pass will pass with greater abilities than those that have attended a full time, privately run Performing Arts College. We continue to do this by offering advanced studies in dance styles such as Break Dance, Popping and Locking, Tricks, and Street Dance giving students the strongest chance to be competitive in today's industry whilst also offering technique classes building strong foundations.
The course is government funded so students that may not have the funds to attend a privately run Performing Arts College will have the chance to receive an amazing standard of training for free. This is something unheard of until now with the high calibre of Teachers that we have on board.
We have an agency attached and will be dedicating time to help find students job placements within the industry.
The classes that make up the BTEC Course are as follows:
Popping and Locking
Studies take place at Basildon Sporting Village and are taken over the three days a week, allowing students to pursue other interests outside of the course.
There really are no excuses not to join us… We have done all the hard work for you!
